Welcome rain lands Monday

Light rain, accompanied by a lot of thunder and lightning, fell across Kingfisher County Monday evening.

Local Weather Observer Steve Loftis reported .3 inch at the National Weather Services station in Kingfi sher and the Mesonet site at the Mueggenborg Farm west of Kingfisher recorded .29 inch.

Twila Adams reported .2 inch at her residence east of Kingfisher.

Other reports from around the county included: Cashion – L.J. Reherman reported .2 at his farming operation.

Dover – Rick and Robin Johnston reported a sprinkle at their residence northwest of Dover.

Hennessey – A CHS Elevator spokesperson said there was enough to dampen the ground in Hennessey but not enough to halt fertilizer application on farm ground.

Okarche – Okarche Grain and Feed elevator reported a quarter-inch at its location.

Loyal-Omega – CHS Elevator reported between .2 and .3 inch Other Mesonet readings in the state included: Watonga – .29 inch. Marshall – .12 inch. Guthrie – .17 inch. Perkins – .39 inch. The heaviest rainfall reported from the system was reported at Vinita in northeast Oklahoma at .96 inch.

Local grain fields are still in need of a good soaking to get the crops in high gear.

The local rain forecast called for a continued chance of showers Tuesday night through Wednesday night with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s.
