Wheeler hosts February Farmerettes meeting
The Hennessey Farmerettes met at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at the First Christian Church with Pansy Wheeler serving as lesson leader and hostess.
When members arrived for the meeting, they made Valentine cards with craft supplies Wheeler provided.
Some were very creative and will be shared with friends. Lots of chocolate candy and nuts were on the table for members to snack on during the meeting.
President Dot Miller opened the meeting and Wheeler led all in the pledge to the flag.
The devotion “Unexplainable Love” was given by Mary Curry who also distributed cards with the Bible verse John 3:16 on them.
Roll call was answered by seven members telling one thing they know about the Amish people’s ways of life.
It was reported Kathy Patocka had a great-granddaughter pass away and Lily Rourke isn’t feeling well. Cards to be sent to both.
The minutes of the January meeting we read with the following additions, Jamie Akenhead and Miller will help Jean Stribel with the December meeting and Dedee Krueger and Wheeler will also be helping with the June meeting.
Akenhead, the treasurer, gave a treasurer’s report. Club bylaws were read, discussed, approved and added $25 to be donated to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
Members still collect Best Choice labels and donate the money they receive from collecting them to a charity.
It was decided to continue the quarter drill.
Miller gave a report on the scrapbook project and told about the “Reality Check” program offered by OCHE.
Miller will participate when they have it, representing the Farmerettes.
The March lesson will be available Feb. 22. The West District Meeting will be in Enid March 25.
Information about Spring Council, March 7, will be made later.
Members are to tell Lindy Peterman if they need the newsletter mailed.
Wheeler reported the June meeting will be a salad luncheon with Sharon Goodwin assisting with some jewelry making.
If Rourke needs some help next month with the meeting McConnell will assist her.
The meeting was adjourned and Wheeler presented a lesson about Amish people and their way of life. She shared some Amish recipes she had made, including noodles, strawberry cake and oatmeal coconut cake. The quarter drill was won by McConnell.
