Two books.

Two stories of inspiration.

From a simple tale about a bunny rabbit to thoughts about God, sisters Sherry Yarbrough Williams and Cynthia Yarbrough want to uplift others through their recently published books.

Written and illustrated by Sherry, her book Browny’s Day Out is a children’s book about a bunny that goes exploring in the morning and begins to follow a frog until he finds himself far from home.

God’s People Work Together is a book of prayers, poetry and ponderings Cynthia wrote through the years which she said was inspired by God.

Several months ago the sisters reached out to local publishing company Orémus Publishing in Dover with the hopes of getting their books published.

Jeremy and Monica Ingle own and operate Orémus Publishing, which is latin for “let us pray.”

Having written a previous edition, “Working for God – Poetry of Faith,” Cynthia said, “This is a revised and updated publication that I’m very proud of.

“I would wake up at night as the Lord was speaking to me and get up and write down the information I was hearing from the Lord,” she added. “He continually inspires me to put it on paper and get it out to the world.”

The writings in her book, she said, are intended to uplift people and provide hope in both “gloomy and wonderful days.”

“Not only do I need a booster every day from the Lord, I feel like everybody in this world also needs a booster and help from God Almighty,” Cynthia added.

Having spent much of her time caring for children and having a love for drawing, it seemed natural for Sherry to write and illustrate stories for children.

“I love children, so I just started focusing on children’s books,” Sherry said.

“It’s like I held stories in my head and I would start writing them down and I like to draw, so it was easy for me to draw the illustrations.”

Although this is her first book to be published, Sherry said she has written other children’s books she hopes to share with others.

All of her stories are centered around different animal families and their escapades, she added.

As her neighbor’s 7-year-old son read the book, Sherry said, and he had memorized excerpts, quoting them back to her, and told her he was going to take the book to school to read to his class. “It is exciting and it feels

The sisters grew up in Kingfisher with six other siblings.

Cynthia is a veteran of the U.S. Army, lives in Kingfisher and has one son, Brandon Yarbrough.

Getting input from Brandon and her mother, Elnora Yarbrough, Cynthia said, was helpful as she was writing her book.

Brandon added: “She poured all her heart into her book and I hope it’s successful.”

A resident of Del City, Sherry and her husband Obediah have a daughter, two sons and three grandchildren.

Having illustrated and published an educational coloring book for the Chisholm Trail Museum and the Harn Homestead in Oklahoma City as well as other publications, Jeremy said:

“As a family publishing company, our goal is to produce publications with good moral content.

“Our job is to print what they want and Cynthia and Sherry were easy to work with and I hope they are successful with their books.”

He added: “When our 8-year-old daughter Samantha read Sherry’s book, she said, ‘this is the best book I’ve ever read today.’”

Both sisters are hopeful their efforts will be an inspiration to others.

“I want to bring joy and uplift the children,” Sherry said.

“We all need inspiration,” Cynthia added.
