By

Tanner Yost with Kirkham Michael Consulting Engineers gave Kingfisher County commissioners an update on the Wagon Wheel Project (wind farm) that is primarily in Garfield County but extends into the northeast corner of Kingfisher County Monday.

Yost reported that the company is planning to begin tree trimming for the project within the next couple of weeks and begin work on the project by Jan 1.

He said he would draft a proposed agreement on road work involved with the project and submit it to County Clerk Jeannie Boevers.

District 2 County Commissioner Ray Alan Shimanek told Yost he had been contacted by the company and expressed his wishes for materials to be used.

Yost reported that the project was large – 600 megawatts – and would require 200 to 300 turbines.

Both Districts 1 and 2 are scheduled to have portions of the wind farm.

Commissioners approved payment of a $3,000 claim from Pinnacle Consulting Management Group for work on a three-mile extension of pavement on the Dover- Crescent Highway, beginning three miles east of U.S. 81.

Three county policy updates were approved including an environmental tobacco smoke policy, prohibiting smoking in all county properties; a safety lock-out/tag-out policy dealing with safety issues while doing maintenance on machinery, and a bloodborne pathogens exposure control plan. The blood pathogens plan complies with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

A change order adding $1,148.90 a ton for Superpave Type S4 material for paving work on County Line Road east of Okarche, District 1, received approval. The change order raises the price for the project to $125,000.32.

K&J Construction received approval for two county road pipelines (12inch and three inch) crossing a county road received approval. The lines are both located one mile north and one mile east of Dover in District 2.

Commissioners approved asolicitationforbids for a used (2011 or newer) semi-truck (200,000 miles or less) and a belly dump trailer for District 1.

Bids will be accepted at the office of the county clerk until 4 p.m Dec. 1 and will be opened at the regular meeting of the BOCC Dec. 4. Specifications are available from the purchasing agent in the county clerk’s office.

Monthly reports for the offices of sheriff, county clerk, treasurer, assessor, health department, election board, treasurer, court clerk and court clerk preservation fund received approval.

All commissioners were present for the meeting – Shimanek, District 2; Jeff Moss, District 1, and Heath Dobrovolny, District 3 – along with County Clerk Boevers, as official minute clerk, and County Engineer Nik Smith.
