Yukon man charged with 5 felonies
A Yukon man faces five felony charges after an incident in which he allegedly shot through and kicked down the door at the home of an ex-girlfriend in Kingfisher.
Charged Tuesday in Kingfisher County District Court was Robert Cole Huckleberry, 39, with one count each of first degree burglary, possession of firearm after former felony conviction, feloniously pointing firearm, assault and battery with deadly weapon and discharging firearm into dwelling.
Huckleberry pleaded not guilty in a Wednesday court appearance and will return to court on Nov. 12.
As of Friday, Huckleberry remained jailed on a $250,000 bond.
Huckleberry was arrested last Saturday morning by Major County Sheriff’s Office deputies near the rig location at which he worked.
The arrest came after Kingfisher Police Department issued an alert to other police agencies to be on the lookout for him after an alleged incident on South Seventh Street in Kingfisher earlier that morning.
According to a KPD report, Huckleberry is accused of shooting through the back door of a residence at which his ex-girlfriend lived, kicking in the door and entering the house.
The report stated the father of the ex-girlfriend came downstairs with a firearm, at which time Huckleberry grabbed his dog and left.
According to the report, Huckleberry later told police he went to the residence to retrieve his dog after asking his ex-girlfriend earlier in the day to take it home with her while she was visiting Huckleberry on the rig location.
Initial reports were the ex-girlfriend had been shot.
Officer Kejaun Joseph said in his report she had “minor wounds to her right upper outer leg” and refused medical treatment.
After interviewing the ex-girlfriend and her parents, Joseph said his investigation led him to discover a .44 Magnum shell on the back porch.
Joseph also said in his report he noticed the odor of gunpowder and viewed a bullet hole on the door near the deadbolt.
There were also bullet fragments inside the home, according to the report.
When Huckleberry was arrested, Major County deputies reported finding a .44 Magnum magazine under the driver’s seat, but no weapon, according to the report.
Also at the time he was arrested, another woman was in the vehicle with him.
The report said the woman corroborated much of what was told to police in Kingfisher and she also said Huckleberry threw a gun out of the window when driving away in Kingfisher.
Officers searched the area the woman described and located a gold-colored .44 Magnum Desert Eagle that later came back as stolen from Wyoming, according to the report.
The report said when he was interviewed by Jospeh, Huckleberry admitted to being in possession of the gun.
Huckleberry was charged in February 2020 with domestic assault and battery resulting in great bodily harm. He pleaded guilty in May 2021.
The assault charge in Kingfisher County carries a sentence of up to life in prison.
Two of the charges carry sentences of one to 10 years, the burglary charge has a sentence of seven to 20 years and the discharging a firearm into dwelling has a sentence of two to 20 years.
