Eagles grab conference wins at Crescent
Hennessey officially has a win streak.
The Lady Eagles won their second straight game Tuesday with their 59-35 victory at Crescent.
The first half of the streak came Dec. 14 against Harding Fine Arts, which was Hennessey’s final game before the winter break.
The Lady Eagles have won three of their last four entering the weekend’s Three Rivers Conference Tournament.
Tuesday’s road win evened Hennessey’s con ference record to 1-1 as the Lady Eagles took care of business early.
They led 22-2 after a quarter.
Four different Lady Eagles made a 3-pointer in the quarter.
One came from Larissa Macy, who added three more in the third quarter.
She led the team with 14 points.
Kassidy Amburn scored seven in the first quarter and ended her night with 12.
Juliana Macy added nine points.
Crescent rebounded from its slow start to outscore Hennessey 14-13 in the second quarter, but the Lady Tigers were unable to make a serious run at closing the gap.
Mackenzie Dreyer scored 10 points to lead Crescent, which fell to 0-8 on the season.
Hennessey overcomes Crescent’s hot start
Crescent couldn’t maintain its early hot shooting as Hennessey took down the Tigers 41-25 on their home court in a Three Rivers Conference matchup.
The home team nailed three first-quarter 3-pointers and got out to an 11-7 lead.
However, Hennessey’s defense allowed just 14 points the rest of the night as the Eagles improved to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
Hennessey used a 12-6 run in the second quarter to take the two-point halftime lead.
James Sims and Jael Torres had two field goals apiece and Timmie Perry knocked down a 3-pointer.
Hennessey slowly pulled away in the second half.
After giving up the early 3-pointers, the Eagles surrendered just two more the rest of the game.
Those came from Kade Varner, who made three in all and led Crescent with 12 points.
The loss dropped Crescent to 2-7 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
Torres paced Hennessey with 15 points.
Sims scored 10 and Perry eight.
