Kingfisher wrestling picked up a win and two losses in duals leading up to a big weekend tournament.

The Jackets downed Casady 45-24 on the road Tuesday night in Oklahoma City.

They returned home Thursday and suffered a 60-12 loss to Class 3A’s second-ranked Marlow and 48-20 to 4A Clinton.

The Red Tornadoes were Kingfisher’s second opponent on Thursday. A forfeit and three falls saw the Jackets quickly fall behind 24-0.

Gant Browning broke the streak as he earned five points for a technical fall over Brandon Rodrigues at 132 pounds.

Brayden Kochenower followed it up with an 8-3 win at 138 pounds and then Damien Haynes pinned Marcelo Tuarrez at 144 pounds.

That pulled KHS within 24-14, but Clinton won the next three weight classes to push it to 36-14.

Mason Alig’s forfeit victory at 175 gave the Jackets their final points of the dual.

The Clinton dual may have seemed like deja vu.

KHS also lost the first four weights and fell behind Marlow 24-0 in their first dual at the APB.

And, once again, Browning stopped the Outlaw surge.

He grabbed a 9-1 victory at 132 to get Kingfisher on the board.

Kochenower grabbed a 6-2 win at 138 to get KHS within 24-6.

The Jackets didn’t score again until the final match when Ryker Long needed 1:31 to pin his heavyweight foe.

The Jackets fell behind 12-0 at Casady before Jaxon Sheppard got a fall at 1:32 of his 132-pound match.

That started a string of 33 straight points for KHS.

Jace Johnson got a fall at 150, Gabe Jackson picked up a 9-3 win at 157 and Diego Arreguin a fall at 165.

All other Jacket wins were via forfeit.

Kingfisher hosted the Western Conference Tournament over the weekend.

KHS is 7-5 for the season and is currently ranked No. 13 in Class 3A.
