Jackets get more offensive in win over Cache

Kingfisher had its best offensive performance of the season Tuesday night.

The Jackets lit up Cache for 49 first-half points en route to a 69-47 victory at the APB.

It’s the second-most points KHS has scored this season behind a 76-point output against Ponca City JV.

Against another varsity squad, Kingfisher’s previous high was 65 points in the finals of the Cleveland Tournament back in December.

Four different Jackets made a 3-pointer in the first quarter as KHS started with a 23-8 run.

Kingfisher allowed 17 second-quarter points, but still managed to extend its lead by nine.

Drake Friesen and Xavier Ridenour scored six points apiece during that second-quarter surge.

The Jackets got their strongest first-half performances from Maddox Mecklenburg and Chase Davis.

Davis scored nine in the first quarter and had 14 by half.

Mecklenburg scored six of his nine first-half points in that first frame.

By game’s end, Davis had led all scorers with 21 points on 8 of 10 shooting.

Mecklenburg poured in 15. Both connected on a trio of 3-pointers.

Mecklenburg added four assists.

Ridenour ended his night with 13 points and a team-high six assists.

Friesen finished with nine points.

KHS outscored Cache 22-9 in transition and alsonetted 22 points off the Bulldogs’ 12 turnovers.

The win kept Kingfisher undefeated at home this season.

The Jackets are 16-1 overall.
