Jackets take down Clinton in home dual
Kingfisher won three of the five matches that were wrestled last Thursday to win a 38-16 win over Clinton in a dual at the APB.
The night served as homecoming and senior night for the Jackets (See Jan. 9 edition for photos).
Prior to the dual, Isaac Long was named homecoming king.
He followed that up by earning a technical fall over Allen Ruiz at 160 pounds.
The win was part of a stretch that saw the Jackets turned a 12-4 advantage into an insurmountable 32-4 lead.
Long’s win was followed by Robert Barnett’s narrow win at 170 pounds.
A freshman, Barnett earned an escape against Isaiah McDow in the second period for the only point of the match.
Senior Grayson Bromlow then pinned Riley James 2:43 into their 195-pound bout.
That gave the Jackets a 26-4 advantage before Daniel Guerrero received a forfeit at 220 pounds.
The Jackets also got forfeit wins for Rhylee Toepfer at 126 and Ben Erwin at 132.
KHS forfeited at 152 and neither team fielded a competitor at 106, 113 or 120.
The wrestlers took part in a road dual Tuesday at Casady (after press time) and are hosting the Western Conference Tournament this weekend.
