Maddi Kamas from topranked Oklahoma City University took NAIA women’s golf player of the week for March 28-April 3.

Kamas, a freshman from Kingfisher, became the first Star to haul in national golfer of the week since Melissa Eldredge for April 15-21, 2019.

Kamas collected her second victory of the season in the Kyle Blaser Invitational on March 28-29 in Oklahoma City.

Kamas posted a 70-71-74–215 at par-72, 6,075-yard Gaillardia Country Club for a nine-shot margin of victory over Malisone Chanthapanya from Texas Wesleyan.

She sank 12 birdies, five of which came on par-5 holes, to deliver the lone under-par 54-hole score of the tournament.

In 2021-22, Kamas has provided Oklahoma City with a 73.27 stroke average in 22 rounds and six topfive finishes in eight starts. The Stars have their most victories (six) in a season since 2008-09.

Kamas was the 2021 Class 4A state champion as a senior at Kingfisher High School.

She led the team to a state runner-up finish and was also the individual state runner-up as a sophomore in 2019.
