The Christian celebration of Easter likely was even more meaningful this year for at least one Kingfisher resident who just spent nine days in Turkey touring sites of the early churches of the New Testament.

Kingfisher High School has named its Students of the Month for March 2019. Selected by the teachers were freshman Jesus Lupercio, sophomore Cora Taylor, junior Jentry Squires and senior Stone Snodgrass. Lupercio is the son of Jesus Lupercio and Lenor Lupercio.

Kingfisher Heritage School announced its Great Expectations Students of the Month at Jacket Roundup on April 5.

Kingfisher High School seniors Emma Wood and Emily Garrett were guests at a recent meeting of the Kingfisher Rotary Club. Wood is the daughter of Jay and Libby Wood. She’s been active in basketball, FCA, FCCLA and is the senior class representative for student council.

Kingfisher High School senior Jenna Johnson served as a Senate page for State Sen. Darcy Jech, R-Kingfisher, during the 11th week of the legislative session from April 15-18. Jenna is the daughter of Kingfisher residents Jerilyn and David Johnson. Jenna is also related to former Sens.

A thunderstorm poured 1.9 inches of rain on Kingfisher early Tuesday.The moisture measured by Local Weather Observer Steve Loftis at the National Weather Service station in Kingfisher up to 7 a.m. Friday raised the rainfall total for April to 4.18 inches and the year-to-date total to 9.02 inches.
