President Barbara Fisher called the March meeting of the Kingfisher United Methodist Women to order and opened it by leading the group in reading the Pledge to Missions statement. Eleven members were present.

Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International met at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at the InterBank Community Room. Delta Kappa Gamma is a society for key women educators and was founded May 11, 1929, by 12 women educators in Austin, Texas.

Kingfisher Bookcase Review Club will meet Monday, April 22, at the Farm Bureau Insurance Building in Kingfisher. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. followed by a presentation by Barbara Byrd of Oklahoma City. She will present on “You’re On an Airplane” written by Parker Posey.

Greg and Niki Black of Kingfisher announce the birth of their son, Baylor Ryan Black. Baylor was born Thursday, March 21, 2019, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. He weighed 6 pounds, 15 ounces and measured 18 1/2 inches. He has two brothers: Bryson, 6, and Beckam, 3.

Part of being a 4-H member is learning the importance of helping others and giving back to the community. April is National Child Abuse Awareness Month and in order to try to give back, Kingfisher County 4-H members gathered 108 foster bags to be donated to DHS.

A number of Kingfisher Middle School choir students earned Superior ratings April 5 at the Seiling Music Festival.

A Pocasset man pleaded not guilty to a charge he sexually assaulted another worker on the Kingfisher hotel construction site March 28. Martin Wayne Bradley, 40, was charged in Kingfisher County District Court with sexual battery April 1.

A warrant was still outstanding at press time Friday for a Kingfisher woman charged with allegedly embezzling more than $11,000 from a local church. Ola Lynn Turner, 59, 406 S. 11th St., Kingfisher, was charged April 1 for allegedly appropriating $11,474.

April is Volunteer Appreciation Month and the Long Term Care Authority of Enid Area Agency on Aging is recognizing its Ombudsman Volunteers for their dedication.
