A couple weeks ago, the Kingfisher girls wrestling program got its first dual win.Now it owns a tournament championship as well.The Lady Jackets had three champions and several other medalists over the weekend to win the team title at the Kingfisher High School Invitational.

Steven Wilson wanted to try something new this season and wasn’t sure what to expect.Needless to say, the Kingfisher High School wrestling coach was happy with the results.The Jackets opted out of this year’s Perry Tournament of Champions and instead took part in the Newkirk Dual Tournament Dec.

Tuttle girls knock off KHS in top-10 showdown

Marissa Sandlin didn’t score a point for fifthranked Tuttle in the first half.Her second-half performance lifted her team to a huge road win.Sandlin’s three-point play with 1:21 left in the game Tuesday proved to be the catalyst in a 40-37 victory at Kingfisher.

Longhorn comeback falls short

Dover almost overcame a huge early deficit and redhot shooting by Garber.Almost. The Wolverines snapped Dover’s five-game win streak by winning their own fifth straight game, 53-47.The road win pushed Garber to 5-1 while Dover dropped to 7-4.

Raiders’ Marsh lights it up again

Ben Marsh is officially red-hot.The Lomega junior scored 34 points Tuesday to lead the Raiders past visiting Kremlin-Hillsdale 75-41.The Broncs had no answer for Marsh, who scored at least seven points in every quarter.

Warriors can’t overcome shooting woes

Foul trouble and some ice-cold shooting caught up to the Okarche Warriors.They had their five-game winning streak snapped Saturday in a 62-55 defeat to host Leedey in the championship game of the South Canadian Classic.

Abby Swart earned most valuable player honors as Lomega maintained its dominance at the Canton Invitational.Class B’s fourth-ranked Lady Raiders won the tournament for the fifth straight year Saturday with a 68-55 victory over No. 12 Arnett.
