Gomez delivers as KHS earns first win

Bella Gomez picked up the win in Kingfisher’s first softball victory of the season.The sophomore scattered four hits Thursday afternoon as KHS downed Enid JV 13-2 during the Highway 33 Classic.The win came after KHS was knocked off 7-0 by Lindsay in the tournament opener.

KHS turns focus to 33 Classic

Kingfisher High School will host its annual softball tournament, the Highway 33 Classic, this week.The three-day tournament begins Thursday, will feature eight teams, two pools and will be played on both high school softball fields.

Football districts OK’d for 24-25 seasons

The OSSAA Board of Directors earlier this month approved the football districts for the 2024 and 2025 football seasons.The approval is needed every other year as football works in two-year cycles for its classifications and districts.

Rodeo fans, riders in for a treat this week in Hennessey

Cowboys and cowgirls from all around will be competing on horseback or riding a bull Wednesday through Saturday, Aug. 16-19, during Hennessey’s annual rodeo events.There will also be greased pig, a calf scramble and mutton bustin’ events for the kids at the open rodeo Friday and Saturday nights.

Kingfisher softball and Lomega baseball both had the chance to show off improved facilities as their 2023 fall campaigns began last week. Unfortunately for the home teams, the visitors pulled off wins in each one.

A trio of Kingfisher seventh graders took part in last weekend’s 2023 Youth Baseball Network Elite Games.Selected to play in the invitation-only tournament just outside of St. Louis were Jayzen Surveyor, Braydon Livingston and Collin Farrar.

Page, West, Wittrock are MAYB national champs

NATIONAL CHAMPIONS – A trio of Kingfisher County girls helped lead their team to a national championship last weekend. The OK Flight went 6-0 to win the second grade division of the MAYB Nationals in Oklahoma City.

Kingfisher County athletes make their mark at OCA All-State games

The week started with a hall of fame induction and ended with a win. The Oklahoma Coaches Association last week held its annual All-State games and coaches clinic in the Tulsa area. Former Kingfisher coach and athletic director Craig Patterson was inducted into the OCA Hall of Fame on Aug.
