After months of work, the Senate, House and Gov. Kevin Stitt have reached an agreement on a budget proposal to fund state government for the fiscal year that begins in July.

Kingfisher High School has named its Students of the Month for March 2026. Students are chosen based on many characteristics including responsibility, leadership, work ethic, reliability, kindness and more.

Rep. Mike Dobrinski, R-Okeene, last Monday recognized members and coaches of the Dover Longhorns boys basketball team in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. The team won the 2026 Class B-II state championship, the first boys basketball title in school history.

Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA), the statewide governing body for secondary school activities, is launching a new initiative to perform a comprehensive review of the organization’s 24 rules.

Elections were held Tuesday for voters in Kingfi sher and Okarche. Kingfisher voters decided two city commission seats as well as the fate of a hike in the city’s hotel/ motel tax. There’s also a school board seat up for grabs in Okarche. Polls closed at 7 p.m.

There will be no local political races after last week’s filing period, but there will be a new county officer this year. Kingfisher County Treasurer Robin Rother is retiring in July and her chief deputy Kelly Majetic will be appointed by commissioners to finish the last year on her term.

For much of the past decade, golfers in the spring have been greeted by a new green on the front-nine of the Kingfisher Golf Course. When the hundreds of high school golfers - and those of the recreational sort - visit this spring, they will be welcomed by different kinds of improvements.
