Julianne Matousek was an automatic qualifier for state in three different events as she led Hennessey’s charge Saturday at the Class 3A regional track and field meet at Chisholm.

Matousek finished second in the 800 meter run and third in both the mile and two-mile runs to punch her ticket to this weekend’s state meet at Catoosa High School.

The top three finishers in each event at each of four regionals advance to state. Those placing fourth through seventh from each regional are then used to determine the next four atlarge spots.

Julianne Matousek, Faith Martinez, Miranda Ortega and Jocelyn Matousek were on the 3,200 relay team that took fourth place.

The Lady Eagles placed 10th at the meet with 28 points.

The HHS boys have an automatic qualifier in the 3,200 relay.

Beau Vinson, Barrit Hardin, Asher Ward and Phoenix Moreno were third in the event.

The Eagles scored 23 points overall for ninth place.

Vinson, Ben Smith, Moreno and Hardin took fourth place in the mile relay while Smith was fifth in the 110 hurdles and Vinson sixth in the 400.

The mile relay and Smith recorded fast enough times to make them additional qualifiers.
