Kingfisher got closer to full strength last Saturday morning and earned a championship in the process. The Lady Jackets won the high school girls team title at the Watonga Cross Country Invitational. Led by Chesni Newkirk, Kingfisher amassed only 44 points to run well past the competition.

Kingfisher’s “Senior Night” wasn’t all roses as the Lady Jackets took an 8-3 loss to Cashion on Tuesday in the season finale.However, KHS did capture an exciting victory the night before in its last district game.

In the last seven-plus seasons, Kingfisher has failed to find the end zone in a football game just four times.Perkins-Tryon has now had a hand in half of those.The latest was last Friday night when the Demons stymied the Jackets’ offense in a 14-3 win at Perkins-Tryon High School.

In the short-term, Hennessey can’t help but think what might have been. Long-term, the Eagles are hoping to not be left with the same sentiment from the 2022 season.Hennessey opened District 2A-1 play last Friday with a 35-15 loss at Oklahoma Christian School.
