KPS Teachers Get Social

Several dozen current Kingfisher Public Schools staff members gathered Monday at Kingfi sher Junior High to welcome the newest faculty members. The school hosted an ice cream social as a way to introduce the new incoming teachers to those already on staff. Superintendent David Glover addressed the crowd first, then introduced each of the building principals who then introduced their new faculty members. Afterward, principals served ice cream and cookies to the staff and their families. Above is a picture of the group listening to Glover. KPS will host “Meet Your Teacher” at its various buildings on Tuesday, Aug. 8. At Gilmour Elementary, it will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Heritage Elementary and Kingfisher Upper Elementary will be from 5-7 p.m. That’s also the time slot for “open house” at KJH and the high school. And now the removal . . .

Debris is loaded into a trailer on the site that used to be Dover Elementary School. The school was demolished on July 20-21 after serving Dover students - and the community - for more than a century. Crews worked all last week in the removal of the debris and it continued into the weekend. Dover’s new elementary school, built after voters approved a bond issue, opened in the spring.
