80 million acres in the Gulf of Mexico was leased recently by the U.S. government to a number of oil and gas producers for oil and gas exploration. The Biden administration had tried to stop this leasing, but they were ordered by the courts to proceed with the leasing after being sued by the gulf states and others. The leasing of these acres would likely have resulted in the production of millions of barrels of U.S. oil, helping us to return to the energy independence we had under President Trump, and the national security that energy independence brings with it.
