Bijan Cortes, 2021 Kingfisher High School graduate and outstanding basketball player, stands with his grandfather and No. 1 fan, Ricardo Padilla of Kingfisher. Bijan, a freshman on the University of Oklahoma Sooner basketball team, received rave reviews recently after leading the Sooners to victory over Big 12 opponent, Iowa State, and was the featured interviewee on television after the game, an almost unheard of honor for a freshman player. Granddad Ricardo, who never missed a KHS game while Bijan was playing, is continuing the same policy as much as possible while Bijan is at OU.
