Read moreJaxton Finley of Piedmont is officially the best trap shooter his age in Oklahoma. Finley brought home the state championship medal (left photo) from the Oklahoma State 4-H Trap Shooting Competition held Saturday, Aug. 28, in El Reno at the Oklahoma State Trap Shooting Association. Finley won the 13-14 year-old age group by hitting 47 of 50 targets in the first round to tie for first place. In a 10-target shoot-off for the championship, Finley aced his round, hitting all 10 targets. Overall, he hit 57 of the 60 targets on the day. Finley also won the Canadian County Fair Trap Shoot on Saturday, Aug. 21, by hitting 45 of 50 targets (right photo). Finley is an eighth grader at Piedmont and this is his first year of competitive shooting. He is the son of Cy and Heather Finley of Piedmont and the grandson of Gary and Kayla Palmer and Dean and Ann Finley, all of Kingfisher. [Photos provided]
