As part of its “diversity, equity and inclusion” focus, one University of Oklahoma college recently vowed to teach white students “cultural humility,” and OU President Joseph Harroz said legislation that prohibited requiring students to take any orientation “that presents any form of race or sex stereotyping or a bias on the basis of race or sex” is “contrary to the goals we have laid out for ourselves as part of our Strategic Plan.”

KHS Photography’s Jackson McCormick received a first place recently award in “Photojournalism” from the Photography Society of America International Youth Photo Competition. McKormick submitted the top photo entitled “Blue 42” that he took during a KHS football game. Kolby Gilbert received a second place award in “B&W Photographer’s choice” in the competition. Gilbert’s submission (bottom photo) was entitled “Tell Tale Youth.” Also, Lily Fletcher and Grace Stinnett were accepted for display at the national contest. All four students are active in KHS Photography, which is directed by Dr. A.J. Johnson. “Needless to say, I am very proud of them,” Johnson said. [Photos provided]
