BOMBS AWAY!

KHS SOPHOMORE Kinlee East is pictured being swarmed by teammates (bottom photo) after connecting on a first-inning home run (top photo) Thursday during the Highway 33 Classic softball tournament in Kingfisher. East’s first homer of the season came during the bottom of the first inning against Okarche. The Lady Warriors took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but East gave KHS a 2-1 lead it wouldn’t lose in what turned into a 7-1 victory. East finished the game 2 for 3 with 4 RBIs and two runs scored. KHS had 10 hits overall. Lily Voth, the winning pitcher, led the way with three hits while Liliana Garramone also went 2 for 3. Reese Roof collected a pair of hits as well. Voth pitched all five innings and gave up six hits while striking out three. KHS opened the tournament earlier Thursday with a 31-3 win against Watonga in a three-inning run rule. The Lady Jackets had 13 hits, walked 12 times and were hit by pitches 10 times. Kingfisher played one more pool game Friday (after press time) against Putnam City before wrapping up the tournament Saturday. [Photos by Russell Stitt/www. stitt.smugmug.com]
