One Of My Favorite Americans

Thomas Sowell, is one of my American heroes. His writing style is just like I like it: direct and to the point. Born in 1930 into a family of black sharecroppers in North Carolina, his family moved around quite a bit due to economic hardships, but his high school years were spent in Harlem where he attended New York’s elite Stuyvesant High School. After working at an assortment of menial positions, Sowell joined the U.S. Marine Corps. Upon his honorable discharge, he studied at Howard University, and from there he transferred to Harvard, where he graduated magna cum laude.
