Landlocked neighborhood?

A UNION PACIFIC train stopped on the tracks had blocked the Bowman Avenue intersection in Kingfisher for more than 10 hours when this photo was taken late Tuesday morning. Because an ongoing county bridge project currently blocks the opposite end of Bowman Avenue and Kingfisher Park gates are normally kept locked during the Kingfisher Winter Nights season, some residents of the neighborhood believed they were trapped as they tried to go to work early Tuesday. But City Manager Dave Slezickey said Kingfisher Police Department monitor the intersection during nighttime and early morning hours and open the park gates when trains stop there. On Tuesday, the gates were opened between 6:30 and 7 a.m. An alternate route out of the neighborhood is available when park gates are not unlocked. See related story and photo on Page 13A.
