FALL FEVER strikes again in Kingfisher’s downtown. This welcome annual affliction has offices and businesses up and down Main Street piling on the pumpkins, hay bales and other festive autumnal decor to mark the changing of the seasons and to compete for bragging rights in the fall decorating contest sponsored each year by the Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce. The contest is open to all businesses located within the city limits and judging for first through third place honors happens Friday, so it’s not too late to spice up those storefronts. WEEK 2 prize winners in Kingfisher County Walk-tober, the month-long step challenge sponsored by Kingfisher Community Collaborative, are Deborah and Mark Maehs, the husband and wife team also known as The aMAEHSments. The pair walked 85,677.5 steps per team member from Oct. 8-14. They took a break Monday at the Kingfisher Cemetery, a popular outdoor walking venue, to accept prizes from KCC co-chairman Blair Coughlan. Two more weekly prizes will be presented before the Oct. 31 grand prize to the team with the highest cumulative average for the month.
