LIONS CLUB GUEST SPEAKER

LIONS CLUB GUEST SPEAKER – Wager Winters of Custer and Custer Commission Company was the guest speaker of the Kingfisher Lions Club last week. Custer and Custer is one of the nine companies that make up ownership of the Oklahoma National Stockyard near downtown Oklahoma City. Winters said he purchased into the ownership of the company in 2019 and quipped that the timing was not exactly great as that was right before COVID-19 was unleashed onto the world. He went on to say that business is “good” even with the pandemic disruptions and his job was “interesting and rewarding.” He added that hoursspent on the job were much longer in his trade than the traditional 40-hour work week, with at least two days per week demanding a minimum of 12 hours or more at the stockyards. “I enjoy it. I knew what it was all about when I signed on and my wife (Morgan Winters) and I are able to make our busy schedules work, so that we are able to raise our family in Kingfisher County,” he said. Winters, left, is a graduate of Okarche High School and he resides with his family northwest of Kingfisher. He is pictured with Lions Club member Doug Hauser.
