DYW preps for this year’s program

Kingfisher County Distinguished Young Women representatives spoke with Kingfisher Lions Club members last week to promote this year’s scholarship program. On hand were last year’s winner and current Kingfisher High School senior Katon Lunsford, right, as well as former winner Katie Ward, center, who served as the judges’ chairman at last year’s event and works alongside director Tiffanie Barnett. This year’s county DYW is Nov. 14. High school junior girls at any Kingfisher County school who is interested in participating can attend an informational meeting at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, at Kingfisher Memorial Library. Lunsford is winding up her reign as the county DYW representative. She was named the second runner-up at the state program in late July and earned $1,600 in scholarships at that event.
