RECENT LIONS CLUB GUEST SPEAKERS

Two recent guest speakers of the Kingfisher Lions Club have included the school district’s new superintendent and a new optometrist taking over a well-established practice in town. Pictured above is Dr. Daniel Craig, left, who was hired as the superintendent in May. He’s a 1989 graduate of Kingfisher High School. He and his wife Kaycie have two daughters, Aubrey and Ava. He said he received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma, his master’s in education administration from East Central University and his doctorate in education leadership from Oral Roberts University. Before accepting the position here, he worked as executive director of the Office of Educational Quality and Accountability and had also worked for the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education and the State Department of Education. Earlier in his career, he served as a coach, middle school teacher and principal. He is pictured with Lions Club member Jarod Hendrix. Pictured with Hendrix below is Dr. Cameron Sikes, O.D. Sikes announced that he is purchasing the local optometrist clinic from Dr. Gerald McMullin effective Jan. 1, 2022. Sikes is working at the clinic now. McMullin will continue part-time by seeing patients on Mondays for the foreseeable future. Sikes was raised in Muskogee and completed his undergraduate studies at Oklahoma State University and graduated from Northeastern State University’s College of Optometry. Upon graduation from optometry school in 2017, Sikes worked four years at the Pottawatomie Tribe clinic in Shawnee in agreement with a scholarship obligation before moving to Kingfisher. He is married to the former Alex Blair, who was raised in Kingfisher. The couple has purchased a lot and plans to build a new home in Kingfisher soon, he said. [KT&FP Staff Photos]
