The Cashion High School academic team swept Newkirk, Sayre and Crossings Christian on Saturday to win a Class 3A area tournament. The area championship punches the team’s ticket to the Class 3A state tournament which will be held Feb. 5 at Rose State College. Cashion, which was a state runner-up last year, is undefeated on the season and won district and regional championships leading up to Saturday. The team is coached by Kim Simmons and Teresa Karnes.
