County approves $44M budget for FY26
Kingfisher County Commissioners gave their approval Monday to a Fiscal Year 2025-26 county budget totaling $44,044,257.66 and the county health department budget of $3,725,104.14.
County Budget Maker Nick Storm, C.P.A., of the firm of Storm and Hauser, said county ad valorem assessments were down this year compared to last, but carryovers from the preceding year were substantial.
The county excise board was scheduled to meet Wednesday for its required action on the budgets.
The legal notice will be published in the Kingfisher Times and Free Press following action by the excise board.
Commissioners also approved a contract with Zyzer of Kingfisher to begin work on fall chip and seal projects in all three districts. Zyzer submitted the low bid for the work two weeks earlier.
A bid notice for the Omega Fire Department to equip a brush truck was approved.
Omega Fire Chief B.J. Waeger reported the department has received a five-ton Stewart and Stevenson truck from the Oklahoma Forestry Service at no cost to the department on which the brush truck equipment will be installed. Specifications are included in the bid packet located online at Kingfisher. okcounties.org under the bids tab.
Bids for the equipment will be accepted at the office of Kingfisher County Clerk Emily Lee until 4 p.m. Oct. 31 and opened at the Nov. 3 commissioners’ meeting.
Waeger said he hoped to see the truck in service by the next harvest season.
Commissioners approved a right-of-way for Western Farmers Electric in District 2. The line will be installed at a point two miles west, three miles north, then 2.5 miles west of Lacey.
A contract for purchase for a salt-sand spreader for District 2 was awarded to Industrial Truck Equipment on its low bid of $44,360.92 In other action, commissioners approved the following:
• Selection of Circuit Engineering District No. 8 to perform bridge inspections for the county;
• Minutes and purchase orders, warrants and payroll for Oct. 6;
• Monthly reports for the offices of assessor, county clerk, health department, treasurer, sheriff and court clerk;
• Purchase card payment of $1,490 for the month of September, and,
• Appropriations and transfers for the month of September.
All commissioners – Anthony Schwarz, chairman, District 3; Jeff Moss, vice-chairman, District 1, and Michael Sparks, District 2 were present, along with Lee as official minute clerk, County Engineer Nik Smith, Sheriff Aaron Pitts and Waeger.
