County sets Fair Board election date

Kingfisher County Commissioners called an election for the county fair board Monday at their weekly meeting.

The election will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the courthouse lobby in Kingfisher.

Three board members’ terms are up this year, one from each commissioner district.

They are David Gerken of Cashion, District 1; Chad Charmasson of Hennessey, District 2, and Matthew Walta of Kingfisher, District 3.

Filing for the positions will be Jan. 12-16 in the Office of County Clerk Emily Lee.

Candidates must be bona fide electors living within the commissioner’s district they seek to represent.

If no candidates file for election, county commissioners are required to appoint a director for each position for which no candidate files.

The three members elected at the Feb. 7 election will serve with six holdover members and include the following with the number of years on their terms indicated: District 1 – Terry LaBlue, two years, and Jeff Henrichs, one year; District 2 – Kevin Harrison, two years, and Luke Lough, one year: District 3 – Shane Clifton, two years, and Andrea Murray, one year.

In other action, commissioners approved: • The list of road and bridge materials and commercial roadway work bids opened at the Dec. 1 meeting, tabulated lowest to highest;

• A public access drive for Richard Butts at 1247 E. Robberts Ave., Kingfisher, with a 2x24-foot culvert, District 1; • A public access drive for Heather Cordasco, also located on East Robberts Avenue with a 24-foot culvert in District 1;

• A grant reimbursement request for Kingfisher Rural Water District No. 3 in the amount of $25,409.50;

• A construction contract with Railroad Yard Services of Stillwater for bridge construction project 5-25-26 in District 1;

• State reimbursement requests for the offices of district attorney and election board, and,

• Purchase card payment of $722.84 for the month of November.

The board tabled action on an agenda item to name a member to the Central Oklahoma Workforce Development Area (COWDA) board.

District 1 Commissioner Jeff Moss, vice-chairman, chaired the meeting in the absence of Chairman Anthony Schwarz, District 3.

Also present was District 2 Commissioner Michael Sparks, County Clerk Emily Lee as minute clerk, and Sheriff Aaron Pitts.
