It’s time to assess in Kingfisher County
Kingfisher County Assessor Carrie Turner reminds citizens that Jan. 1 through March 15 is the time to assess.
Turner said her office has mailed the following forms:
• Personal property schedule listings;
• Business property renditions;
• Individual personal property;
• Manufactured home renditions, and,
• Business personal property petroleum.
“It is important to verify the information is correct and then sign and return before March 15 to avoid a penalty,” Turner said.
Homestead exemption is an exemption of $1,000 from the assessed value of the homestead property.
“To apply, you must be the recorded owner of the property on Jan. 1 and must physically be residing and domiciled thereon,” Turner said.
Homestead applications filed after March 15 will notbe considered until the following year.
Turner also pointed out that if you are 65 or older as of Jan. 1 and have a combined gross household income of less than $85,000, you may apply for the “Senior Freeze” on property that you own and reside at.
“The ‘Senior Freeze’ locks in valuation of real estate, but does not freeze all taxes,” Turner said.
“Bring a copy of your most recent federal income tax return and proof of any other household income to apply before March 15.”
Turner also wants citizens to know the assessor’s office is the liaison between the taxpayer and the Oklahoma Tax Commission.
“We are here to help with the filing of applications, to submit accurate taxpayer information and to explain and answer any questions,” Turner said.
“Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions as we are here to serve you, the taxpayer.”
