KCSO can accept $5K donation for safety equipment
Kingfisher County commissioners approved a request from the Kingfisher County Sheriff’s office Monday to accept a $5,000 grant from Marathon Petroleum Co. to place additional safety equipment into vehicles driven by officers.
Undersheriff Ed Cangiano said the grant will allow the sheriff’s department to place such items as first-aid kits and fire extinguishers in department vehicles.
The unanimous vote to approve the move was made during Monday morning’s regular meeting of the commissioners.
County Engineer Nik Smith reminded commissioners that Circle C Paving and Construction Co. of Lawton has indicated it will begin performing chip and seal projects on designated county roads, for which it was the low bidder, about May 1.
Ovintiv Energy received approval for county road crossings for two water pipelines – one for a 12inch flat line and the other for a 16-inch line, both in the vicinity of five miles west and five miles north of Kingfisher in District 3.
Payment of a purchase card payment of $115.80 also received approval for payment with other purchases at the next commission meeting.
All commissioners – Anthony Schwarz, District 3, chairman; Jeff Moss, District 1, vice chairman, and Mike Sparks, District 2 – were present along with Smith; Cangiano; County Clerk Emily Lee as official minute clerk; County Emergency Management Director Ryan Deatherage; Kevin Lane, sales representative for P&K Equipment Co; and Kelly Buck, citizen guest.
