Zach Goodwin saw the advertisement and took a leap of faith.

Now he wears a holster and a uniform, one that bears the badge of the Kingfisher Police Department.

Goodwin is the newest member of the department, joining on Dec. 15.

“It’s been a lot of fun so far,” said Goodwin. “But there’s been a lot of reading.”

Goodwin has some catching up to do on department policy and soon he’ll have some training to complete.

He’ll start attending the multiweek Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) course next month.

“We’re happy to have him here not just because we filled a need with the position,” said KPD Chief Travis Gray. “But it makes it even better knowing that Zach is from here… he grew up here.”

Goodwin graduated from Kingfi sher High School in 2019 and then made multiple stops playing baseball collegiately.

More recently, he’s been working with Morrison Lawn Service.

Then Goodwin saw the KPD was hiring and although he’d never really envisioned a career in law enforcement, he was intrigued.

“I saw that no experience was necessary,” he said. “So I filled out an application.”

Goodwin married Tiffany Paul in June. She is a teacher and coach at Kingfisher Public Schools.

The couple are expecting their first baby in 2026.
