Kingfisher’s Christmas spectacular slated this Saturday
Once again, Kingfisher is THE place to be for the Christmas celebration… and it’s the place to be all day long.
This Saturday - Dec. 6 - is packed full of holiday activities beginning in the morning at the Kingfisher County Fairgrounds and concluding at night with the parade and fireworks that have made the city quite the holiday attraction.
And this year, there’s an added attraction to those fireworks.
But first…. As we said, it’s an absolute full day of activities. Here’s a rundown: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Winterfest craft show at the Kingfisher County Fairgrounds Exhibit Building 2:30 p.m. - Matinee showing of 1954’s classic “White Christmas” at 89er Theatre 3 p.m. - 5K/10K Fit & Festive Fun Run at Newfield Community Park 4 p.m. - Food trucks will open at Block 35 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. - Kingfisher Winter Nights is open at Kingfi sher Park.
6 p.m. - The annual lighted parade downtown from Interbank south down Main Street to BancFirst.
To fill in the gaps, Kingfisher’s downtown merchants and restaurants will be open before and after the parade.
For visitors, there will be handicap parking and restrooms available on Admire Avenue.
There will be portable restrooms available on Admire Avenue, Miles Avenue and at Block 35.
As for the parade and fireworks, this year’s parade theme is “A Vintage Christmas.”
At the conclusion of the parade, spectators will be treated to the fireworks show set to music, which will be presented this year by Precision Fireworks LLC. (Editor’s note: See our Sunday, Nov. 30 edition for more on that company.)
The special addition to this year’s performance will be a drone show that will work in conjunction with the fireworks and music.
“We think those in attendance will be thrilled with the show,” said Shauna Rupp, executive director of the Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce.
Jesse Williams, owner of Precision Fireworks, said the drones offer a unique addition to the show.
“I love fireworks and Christmas time,” Williams said. “And when you throw the drones into the mix, we will be creating a magical Christmas experience similar to a Hallmark movie.”
