Sternberger rehired by Hennessey school board
Hennessey Public Schools Superintendent Jason Sternberger was rehired “with no changes to his current contract” by the Board of Education members Monday during their December regular meeting.
Sternberger’s current contract is for $168,700 a year.
He started working full-time in Hennessey July 1, 2021, at $136,000 a year for the first two years.
The board’s unanimous vote to rehire him came after members were in a closed executive session for about an hour. Sternberger was invited to join the board for about the last 15 minutes of that executive session.
All board members were present: President Dr. James M. Matousek, Vice President Dakota Semrad, Clerk Amy Charmasson, Luke Lough and Lance Painter.
Other Business
There was a light agenda for the meeting.
The superintendent gave a brief report on an agenda item about the high school “annual dropout and college remediation report” for high school students.
Sternberger also said in another item that since Semrad was the only person to file for the school board seat, no election was re- quired.
That means the board will have to wait until after the election period in April before Semrad may be sworn in for his five-year term on the board.
Semrad was appointed to the school board in February 2024 after the resignation of David Tillman.
In The Audience
At the board table were Sternberger and Timberly Jech, office manager and minutes clerk.
High School Principal Joshua Faulkner was the only other staff member at the meeting.
