York promoted at KFD
Kingfisher Fire Department Chief Ryan Gibson recently announced a promotion within the department.
Dakota York saw his title bumped from firefighter to lieutenant.
York was sworn in by Gibson during a ceremony last Wednesday.
Also attending were members of the fire department and York’s family, including his wife Elizabeth.
“Dakota has been a valuable member of the fire department since joining,” Gibson said. “I’m excited to collaborate with him in his new leadership role and look forward to seeing his continued growth and success.”
York joined the department in January 2017.
He has acquired Advanced Emergency Medical Technicial (AEMT) and Firefighter 2 certifications as well as several other EMS and fire training certifi cations since joining the department.
Some of his new duties will include training his shift and commanding incidents when the captain is not on duty or available.
Lieutenants work closely with firefighters in the training and day-to-day operations such as truck checks, truck maintenance and other duties, said Gibson.
Retired from the Oklahoma National Guard, York and his wife have three daughters.
