KPS board sets bond sale
Kingfisher Board of Education will have a special meeting prior to its regular meeting on June 23.
The purpose of the special session will be to open bids for the sale of $3.5 million general obligation building bonds for the district.
The bonds are part of the payment structure of Kingfisher Junior High.
Voters passed a $16.75 million bond issue for the new facility in September 2019. It was completed in the spring of 2022.
Bond bids are due at 11:30 a.m. the day of the special meeting.
That special meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The regular board meeting will begin at 7 p.m.
That is the final board meeting of the 2024-25 fiscal year and is when the board wraps up much of the district’s financial matters for the year.
The board does not have a regular meeting in July.
The resolution to set the sale of the obligation bonds was approved at last week’s regular board meeting.
Approving it were board members Bill Reitz, Brad Wittrock, Mike Copeland, Charles Walker and Dana Golbek.
The board also approved a number of personnel moves for the 2025-26 school year. (Note: Read about those moves in the Wednesday, June 4, edition.)
Also a part of last Monday’s meeting was the approval of a number of annual contracts:
• Tiffany Jenkins for academic language therapy services;
• Moore Therapy Services for occupational therapy services;
• Speak Life SLP Services for speech and language therapy services;
• Youth & Family Services to provide emergency shelter, counseling, delinquency prevention, transitional living and educational programs;
• Chatter Matters LLC for speech therapy services;
• ADPC Software for financial accounting and cloud hosting;
• Precision Testing for asbestos services;
• Cimarron Exterminators for pest control;
• Oklahoma Teacher & Leader Effectiveness (OKTLE) for employee evaluation systems;
• Oklahoma School Assurance Group (OSAG) for workers’ compensation coverage; and,
• Oklahoma Department of Human Services for school-based family services.
The board also approved declaring a number of items as surplus as part of the 50-minute meeting.
