Eli Davis, guest speaker, quoted the Infantryman’s Creed and then shared this poignant reminder of military sacrifi ce at the Kingfi sher High School Veteran’s Day assembly Monday: “Somewhere right now, there is a grunt that woke up on the side of a mountain, boiled water with heat tabs in a small pocket stove just to have the pleasure of a hot cup of coffee, which will be the highlight of his day. Somewhere right now, there is a mom who is deployed with her babies at home, about to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas without their mom. Somewhere right now, there is a mom and dad gone with grandparents and friends helping with their kids for the next year. Somewhere right now, there is an 18-year old who’s about to miss his fi rst Thanksgiving – and had his fi rst gun fi ght all in the same month. Don’t feel sorry for them. That’s part of the job.
