If you want bragging rights, or just want to share your chili or stew with others, then you’ll want to sign up for the annual cookoff sponsored by the Hennessey Friends of the Library.

It is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 7, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

There is no entry fee for “Wicked-ly good cooks” of all ages and they will also get in free, say FOL planners.

But, cooks are required to sign up before Friday, Feb. 6, so there will be enough tables set up at the Hennessey High School cafeteria for the event.

Cooks should bring their chili, stew, mac and cheese, pot roast or chicken and dumplings to the event in crock pots or electric cookers, say planners.

Friends of the Library members will bring desserts, including apple pie and homemade cookies.

Admission is $7 for adults, $3 for children 12 and under and $20 for an immediate family group.

This year’s theme is “No Place Like Home” and “Wicked Good Food,” but cooks aren’t required to wear ruby red slippers, or costumes, to the event.

But they do need to bring their own ladles or spoons.

FOL members are asked to donate items for door prizes and to have them at the library by Jan. 30.
