A Dover woman was killed and two Kingfisher teenagers were injured in separate traffic accidents on icy roadways Monday, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports.

Brandi Lyn Byrum, 42, of Dover, was pronounced dead at the scene of a rollover collision just after 5 a.m. Monday on U.S. 81, .4 miles north of the Dover-Crescent blacktop, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol Report.

She was traveling south in a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox when she apparently lost control of the vehicle, which departed the roadway to the right and rolled one-half time, landing on its roof, according to the report.

The OHP report listed excessive speed for road conditions as the cause of the collision.

The accident was investigated by OHP Trooper Mark Williams, assisted by Kingfisher County Sheriff’s office and Kingfisher Fire Department.

Brenden Toepfer, 18, and an unidentified 15-year-old male passenger, both of Kingfisher, were reported injured when their 2001 Dodge pickup truck collided with a train about 3:48 p.m. Monday three miles north of Okarche.

Toepfer was transported to Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, where he was admitted in stable condition with head, internal and external injuries.

His passenger was transported to OU Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City, where he was admitted in stable condition with unspecified injuries.

According to the OHP report, Toepfer was driving west on E 860 Road approaching the railroad crossing when his pickup truck slid on the icy roadway and struck the side of a Union Pacific freight train.

The pickup truck left the roadway to the right, striking a signal mast and spinning 360 degrees, ejecting both the driver and passenger, neither of whom were wearing seatbelts.

The train’s engineer, Clinton Baxter, 43, and conductor, David Johnson, 56, both of Chickasha, were not reported injured.

OHP Trooper Sammy Lee of the Kingfisher County detachment is investigating the accident. He was assisted at the scene by Kingfisher EMS, which transported the injured driver and passenger, sheriff’s office, and Marche fire and police departments.
