11 members gather for Hennessey Farmerettes’ May meeting

By

The Hennessey Farmerettes met Thursday, May 9, at the First Christian Church in Hennessey for its May meeting.

Prior to the meeting, several members assembled take-home craft packages for youth attending the Hennessey Library.

The meeting was opened by President Pansy Wheeler, with all members joining in the pledge to the American flag.

Lily Rourke provided a reading from the OHCE book describing what each item on the OHCE emblem represented and Mary Curry gave a devotion about Mother’s Day.

Roll call was answered by 11 members with each telling whether they have a will or trust.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved and volunteer sheets were collected.

Maxine Helgeson and Wheeler reported to the group about delivering last month’s craft items to the library.

The Hennessey Farmerettes club history was written and provided to the Kingfisher Memorial Library by Jamie Akenhead, Dot Miller and Kathy Patocka.

On Thursday, June 13, the group will travel to the Frontier Country Museum in Crescent and have lunch in place of its regular monthly meeting.

Miller reported on the Red Carpet Honor Night in which Helgeson was one of the honorees and several members attended in her support.

It was reported that items were donated to the veterans hospital and that more items are needed.

The treasurer’s report ($709.91) was given and approved.

Miller brought various plants to share with members at the meeting.

It was announced the county fair will be held in August and more plans for the group’s scrapbook project will provided at the next meeting.

Akenhead gave the lesson on wills, trusts and deeds.

Marge McConnell won the door prize.

Those attending the meeting were: Wheeler, Helgeson, Akenhead, Miller, Rourke, Patocka, Curry, McConnell, DeDee Krueger, Cheryl McClendon and Paula Nicholson.
