19 attend barn quilt workshop

By

Kingfisher County Extension hosted a barn quilt workshop for members of the community on April

20.

Lindy Hoel, the FCS educator and instructor of the class, provided the paint, patterns, boards and other materials for the workshop.

She taught the group how to break down their patterns to begin drawing them on the board, put the pattern on the board, and to tape each section for the different colors.

Hoel demonstrated the steps of creating their barn quilts with her own board and design.

“You do not need to be a skilled artist to create a beautiful barn quilt,” Hoel said.

She helped the participants figure out their designs and to coordinate the colors for their boards.

There were 19 participants where the class dined on a potluck lunch, shared their ideas, put colors together, and finished their boards.

Each participant painted their own two-feet by two-feet board.

“Everyone had a great time and is looking forward to the next barn quilt workshop,” Hoel said.

Another workshop is planned for the fall.
