1st volunteer work day set at Pflueger home
A volunteer work day has been scheduled from 14 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at the home of Danny and Ann Pflueger, 301 N. First St, Kingfisher.
The afternoon will be spent emptying the home so that repairs can begin on damage sustained in a fire in the early morning hours of Feb. 21. Shane Hood, principal at Kingfisher Heritage School where Pflueger works as custodian, is coordinating the volunteer effort.
“On Saturday, we are only working to remove items from the home and will look for demolition volunteers soon,” Hood said. “We will have a rolloff dumpster on site to dispose of items that are no longer usable.”
Anyone interested in helping is asked to wear old clothes and work gloves. Face masks are optional.
In addition to workers, Hood said a couple of trailers are needed to help haul the Pfluegers’ furniture and possessions to a storage facility in town and packing boxes and tape also are needed.
“If you can help with any of these items, please feel free to contact me at shood@kingfisher.k12.ok.us,” Hood said.
The next workday to be scheduledis expected to focus on demolition.
Both the Pfluegers and their dog escaped the fire without injury, but the home is uninsured.
Kingfisher First Christian Church has established a fund to help offset repair andliving expenses.
Donations can be made via checks made out to and delivered to the church at 102 S. Seventh St, Kingfisher, 73750.
