3 town races in Okarche

Kingfisher, Hennessey and Dover municipal officials will be elected without opposition, while Okarche voters will face elections for all three open positions after the official filing period closed last week.

Nonpartisan municipal elections will be held Tuesday, April 2, in Okarche, with the following races on the ballot:

Ward 1 Trustee – Michael D. Mendel, 51, incumbent; Matthew Blackwood, 35.

Ward 3 Trustee – James Nance, 45; Joe Frisby, 56. Incumbent Linda Miller did not seek re-election.

Town Clerk – Dana Reese, 48, incumbent; Stacey Morgan, 31.

Officials elected without opposition include:

Kingfisher City Commission – Wendell Prim Sr., 49, incumbent.

Dover Board of Trustees (three seats) – Gregory “Brian” Chestnut, 49; Sheila Holmes, 47, and Mike Walters, 66, all incumbents.

Hennessey Board of Trustees (three seats) – Bert Gritz, 62, and Clifford Vogt, 61, both incumbents, and Richard Simunek, 72. Simunek will replace incumbent Mike Shaw, who did not seek re-election.

Townwide meetings will be held on April 2 to nominate and elect trustees at Cashion and Loyal.

Positions up for election at municipalities holding elections include:

At Loyal, two positions for trustee, Jim Savage, incumbent; mayor, John Schlegel, incumbent, and treasurer, Dorothy Glazier, incumbent, all four-year terms, will be up for election.

At the Cashion town meeting, the following positions will be up for election: Place 1, Brad Stone, incumbent; Place 3, vacant, and place 4, Brad Morrissey, incumbent.
