62% ad val taxes paid
County Treasurer Robin Rother reports that 61.8 percent of the county’s 2019 ad valorem tax has been paid.
As of Thursday, Feb. 20, county property owners had paid $23,021,977.50 of the total tax certified for collection – $37,442,543, leaving a balance of $14,218,776.50 still to be collected after adjustments totaling $201,789.
Property owners who paid at least one-half of their total tax bill by Jan. 10 are allowed by law to delay paying the second half without penalty to March 31.
Interest – 1.5 percent per month on unpaid taxes – begins April 1.
A total of $14,006.50 was reported paid under protest.
