Altar Society discusses confirmation

By

The Sts. Peter & Paul Altar Society met Wednesday evening, March 6 at 5:30 p.m. in the Church Annex with 22 women present.

The earlier time frame was necessary to allow members to attend the 7 p.m. Ash Wednesday Mass following the meeting. Irene Garrett called the meeting to order and vice president Barbara Rice led the opening prayer.

The upcoming Confirmation Mass and Meal was discussed with Judy Grellner reporting on plans for food and decorating.  Confirmation will be on Sunday, March 24 at the 10:30 a.m. Mass.

The “Sanctity of Life” campaign is going very well with many donations being received.

The Holy Trinity School classes have made and donated baby blankets. Diapers, clothing items and crocheted blankets, as well as cash donations, have been collected.  Sts. Peter & Paul School will hold their monthly “dress down” day on the last Friday of March with all proceeds going to benefit the drive.

The group plans to continue collecting items throughout March.  Members were reminded that they could drop donations off at the church office.

Ann Finley, Irene Garrett, Janice Payne, and Sara Boeckman attended a program given by Captain Adam Flowers in El Reno last month.

Captain Flowers has been booked to present the program at Ross Hall in Kingfisher on April 8. The Altar Society is teaming up with the Kingfisher Community Collaborative, to bring the program to parents locally.

Captain Flowers speaks about the dangers posed by internet predators that gain access to children via their cell phones and computers. More information will follow.

The monthly Nursing Home Project at Cimarron Nursing Center will be on March 12 at 2 p.m.

Youth Group Supper will be served on March 27.

The next Altar Society Meeting will be April 3 at 7pm with Francene Eaton and Cynthia Eaton as hostesses.

The group closed the meeting with prayer intentions.
