The Sts. Peter & Paul Altar Society met Wednesday, Jan. 14, in the Parish Hall.

The meeting opened with President Ann Finley leading the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

The opening prayer was given by Chaplain Francene Eaton.

Correspondence included thank-you notes from Father Ben and the youth group.

Secretary Carol Morkes read the minutes of the November meeting and they were approved.

The group did not hold a meeting in December, celebrating with its Christmas party instead.

Treasurer Carolyn Schulte gave a detailed report of the group’s income and expenditures for 2025, as well as a final report of the proceeds of the annual turkey dinner, held on Nov. 2, 2025.

The dinner continues to be the only fundraiser the group uses to fund each year’s expenses for the church and donations to community projects.

Morkes gave a report on the Memorial Fund, which funds special church needs.

Moving on to monthly business, Cynthia Eaton gave the funeral dinner report, stating three funeral dinners had been served, feeding approximately 275 family members.

Group 2 will be the next group called upon for dinner preparations.

Nancy Altman gave a report on the progress of the new Parish directory. She said the new directory would likely be out sometime in March.

Approximately 180 families will be represented in the directory.

Francene Eaton presented the program on the “Virtue of Faith” and focused on the writings of the late Archbishop Fulton Sheen, who is up for canonization. She recommended the book “Way of Happiness” for reading to the group.

The group was made aware of the need for Bibles for a prison ministry. Bibles are needed in both English and Spanish.

The Altar Society agreed to buy 10 Bibles in each language for donation to the group and also to begin a collection of Bibles for parishioners who would be willing to donate Bibles.

Refreshments were served by hostesses Debbie Farrell, Linda Coughlan and Sherry Trent.

The door prize was won by Marlene Maddock and the meeting was adjourned.
