Altrua Club meeting held
The Altrua Club met Oct. 21 at the Chisholm Trail Museum. Members present were Martha Burditt, Dana Golbek, Jneanne Kadavy, Jeanette Kloeppel, Terri Peck, Jowanna Sisk, Julie Storm and Cheryl Wheelbarger.
Wheelbarger, president, conducted the meeting and served as hostess.
Wheelbarger gave a report on the recent chuckwagon dinner held at the Chisholm Trail Museum. She informed the group that it was a sold-out event and that she and Burditt helped pass out meals.
Blair Coughlan and Maggie Jackson from the Kingfisher County Health Department gave the program.
Coughlan serves Kingfisher and Blaine counties while Jackson serves the district which includes Kingfisher, Blaine, Logan, Garfield, Major, Grant and Canadian counties.
They both work with COVID-19 cases and tracking. They provided members with information on COVID-19 and the upcomflu season.
They told members to be sure to wear a mask as they help prevent the spread of COVID as well as flu.
South America experienced a milder flu season due to precautions taken for COVID, they said, adding that communities that have mask use have less spread.
They also reminded the group that a person can be contagious for two-to-three days before symptoms occur and they can get COVID and the flu at the same time.
They added that there are several ways to boost the immune system like the EZC (Echinacea, Zinc and Vitamin C) pack.
The next meeting will be Nov. 18 with Carolyn Flood serving as hostess and Storm in charge of the program.
